Cricket Ushers in a New Season with Even More Smiles

As we kick off summer, #CricketNation is full steam ahead to help our communities stress less this season. Across the country we continue to build meaningful connections while extending a hand and a smile. Check out all the ways our teams inspired smiles across the country.

Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month
During Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May, we recognized the achievements and cultural richness within this diverse community from coast to coast. In Oakland, Cricket Wireless teamed up with OCA-Asian American Advocates-East Bay and the Oakland Chinatown Chamber of Commerce, for the “pickITup” program, which mobilized community volunteers to work beautifying Chinatown parks and commercial areas through trash pickup, graffiti abatement, and planting trees.

Meanwhile, we continued the heritage celebration with Boys & Girls Club in San Jose, also known as “Little Saigon,” with a Buu Kim Tu Lion Dance performance. According to Chinese culture, the lion represents power, wisdom and superiority. The lion dance performance is an important tradition that welcomes prosperity, good luck and big smiles.

In New York City, Cricket Wireless Authorized Retailer (AR) Maxtel Group received an award from the Parent Child Relationship (PCR) Association for their continuous community support. The non-profit organization serves the majority Asian immigrant community in Brooklyn by coordinating service activities, environment cleanliness and emergency assistance. Maxtel Group’s reputation of working with the PCR Association to help others stress less and smile more earned them a New York City Council Citation for outstanding citizenship! AR owner, Meng, originally from China, loves being a Cricket AR because he can utilize the resources and support from Cricket to serve others and share the value of being a part of #CricketNation. When asked about being a Cricket AR, Meng said “It is my pride, my honor.”

Corporate Partner of the Year
For three years and counting, we’ve supported the Durham Rescue Mission. It’s North Carolina’s largest long-term homeless shelter providing job placement, vocational training, food, clothing and education to families year-round. Whether it’s the holiday season or their annual golf fundraiser we are there packing care baskets, serving hot meals, or extending a compassionate smile. Earlier in June, Durham Rescue Mission recognized Cricket Wireless as their ‘Corporate Partner of the Year!’ It’s an honor to serve the greater Chapel Hill, Durham and Raleigh areas.

Grad Season
We salute the class of 2023 for closing out their academic chapters! As part of our commitment to Boys & Girls Clubs of America to increase career and college readiness, we joined forces with Boys & Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley (BGCSV) to celebrate ten graduating seniors. In collaboration with our AR SunCom Mobile, teens received gifts valued at over $5,000 including a moto G stylus 5G phone plus three months of Cricket Wireless service accompanied with phone accessories. Congrats grads! Like your smiles, your futures are bright!

Festival Season
Warmer weather means the commencement of festival season! It invites communities to create meaningful memories and, for Cricket, it means fostering deeper connections. Look out for us at a festival near you, offering our simple approach to a wireless experience, giveaways, and of course smiles. Most recent festival presence includes the Lexington Multicultural Festival in North Carolina, Juneteenth events in California and Georgia, and celebrating Caribbean heritage from New York to Alabama.
